Description
Memorization Block is an interactive FPGA-based memory game designed to boost cognitive agility through fun, fast-paced gameplay. Inspired by the classic “Simon” game, players must observe and replicate a randomly generated sequence of lights on a 2x4 LED matrix using a matching button grid. With only three hearts, the game challenges memory, focus, and reaction speed. What makes our project unique is its pure hardware implementation — no microcontroller, just logic gates, FSMs, and digital design magic. We optimized the datapath using efficient register usage and real-time input routing to ensure responsiveness.
Our custom ALU supports extended operations like Hamming Distance and Popcount, expanding the project’s scope beyond a simple game. The journey wasn’t easy — from late-night bug hunts to dawn breakthroughs, we worked tirelessly as a team to bring our idea to life. The final product is more than a game: it’s a reflection of creativity, resilience, and collaboration.
Built with sustainability in mind and designed to be accessible to all ages, the Memorization Block is not only educational — it’s brain training reimagined in hardware.
