Description
This project is a modified version of the game Chopsticks, where the objective is to eliminate the other player by adding scores to their hands. Once a hand reaches a score greater than 5, it is considered dead. The game ends when either player loses both hands.
Players can choose one of three actions on their turn: Attack Self, Attack Opponent, or Split. After performing an action, the turn ends.
Our modifications include updating the rules to disallow splitting a hand score of three into 1 and 1, and introducing a penalty system where making an illegal input results in an immediate loss.
We also implemented a new game mode called Blackout, where after every four turns, the LEDs displaying players’ hand scores are turned off. During this blackout, players must rely on memory to track both their own and their opponent’s scores to avoid making illegal moves. After the blackout ends, the LEDs are restored to show the current hand states.
