When people think about university life in SUTD, they think about the long hours of study sessions but more so of the numerous events and fifth rows that they took part in which created lasting memories. But how do SUTD students find out about these events in the first place? SUTDents normally find them in the SUTD Family Telegram group chat, under the “Events, Promotions & Survey” section but it is extremely cluttered with the spam of long event promotional messages. Our group spoke to students in SUTD in a bid to make their student life more fun and heard their concerns.

They are less willing to host events due to the fear of their event invitation being lost in the sea of messages. That was how Hostr was born. Hostr aims to not just improve discoverability but also reduce the inconveniences that arise when hosting peer to peer events. It eliminates the hassle of sending long invite messages across multiple group chats, tracking RSVPs, sending reminders and post-event photos.
