Description

MasterMind is a single-player rendition of the popular board game of the same name. Instead of relying on a second player, our game can randomly generate a secret colour combination to be guessed, allowing players anywhere to enjoy it in their own time.

Upon starting the game, the player has up to 8 guesses to figure out the correct combination of colours from a total of 6 different colours. Pressing any of the four input buttons changes the corresponding 4 leftmost LEDs’ colours by cycling through. The player can then confirm their guess by pressing the submit button, triggering the check process by the machine.

In this stage, the player can now check the correctness of their answer by the results displayed to the right of the input LEDs. These 4 LEDs display a combination of green, yellow, or OFF LEDs to provide feedback to the player based on their input. A green LED indicates that one of the input colours matches the position and colour of a generated answer. A yellow LED indicates that one of the input colours is correct but in the wrong position, and an OFF LED indicates that one of the input colours does not match any of the colours of the answer.

By tallying their results on each stage, the player can then make logical assumptions and deductions to beat the game within the 8-guess limit. Failure to do so displays the answer on the top row indicating that the player has lost.
